The Performer, a play for An Actor and The Theater
An actor dies on stage and finds himself in the beyond. Standing on the boards of a spectral stage, he is trapped within the theater of his own mind. Alternately terrified and bemused (“Can someone tell me what play I’m in?”), he journeys through Western theatrical canon, becoming increasingly disenchanted with its paradigm, as well as with the Western cultural ethos in general. Mocking - and suffering through - the age-old tropes of love, war, murder, revenge, heroic quests, intrigue, and ennui, he initiates a search for the new ways of imagining and performing our world.
Production begins in 2021.
